I hate Religion – want to know why?

Religion – it’s a controversial subject, we all have our own beliefs.

Personally organized religion does nothing for me.
I do not believe in the bible, I do not believe in an almighty creator who goes by the name of “god” who resides in heaven and watches over us as his creations.  I am spiritual and I do have a belief that we are here to grow and learn, I believe in an after life and I also believe that people are mostly good and live life according to their own morals that hopefully include treating others how we would like to be treated as that is how I try and live my life.

I am not perfect, I do judge, I do get selfish and I can be a little hedonistic – I have vices and faults, have made errors of judgment although I rarely have regrets as I believe mistakes are a lesson. Basically I consider myself to be a nice person but I am very aware that I am not perfect (Im not even sure Id want to be). I have a big issue with feelings though, I love and hate strongly!

This post is about what I HATE about religion.

What I hate more than anything is when people get all high and mighty about their beliefs and try and inflict them on others.
I also hate those who turn up to their place of worship once week yet do harm by word and action to others for the other 6 days.

I hate extremists and I hate those who think they have the right to judge others who do not share their beliefs. I hate how many wars, deaths and injustices are inflicted in the name of religion. I hate that the world has become divided by spiritual belief.
I have friends who do not believe in any god, I have friends who are Catholic, Muslim, Jewish and Buddhist. Whilst I love these people I do not agree with their beliefs completely but just as I have my right to my beliefs I feel they have their right to their own. It works for us – why?
RESPECT. I respect their right to their views and they do the same for me.

Regardless of what name you wish to appoint Him/Her – if a god does exist I can not believe that such an entity would have an issue as to what path someone follows to find “God” Surely such a being would only care as to what good is in someones heart? Surely they would care little of  an ego boost as to what name was called out in prayer.

If there is a “God” in my mind they would only care about the lessons we learn, the growth we make, the good we do and they sure as hell wouldn’t want to see people dying in their name.

The sooner we realize that we are no different from each other just because we know our “god” by another name the sooner this little planet has a chance to live in peace.

Id like to see a time were we no longer need the “church/temple/mosque” a time when religions have no name, a time where we have places of worship that are open to anyone who wishes to connect to a higher source regardless of the name they call their “god”

As strange as it sounds I would live to see the day where spiritual values are lived not just spoken about but where religions in the form they exist today are no longer around. I would like a spiritual world – not a religious one!

I hate Religion – What do YOU think?
