I recently gave up smoking – well almost. Every second day or so I can not fight the urge and I submit to my addiction.
I have smoked mostly for 20 years. I have given up before (a month here a month there) and even managed 3 years straight without a cigarette passing my lips.
I have no idea why this time it is so hard.
I have always quit “cold turkey” before without a real problem (just easily tempted back to the dark side).
I enjoy smoking and I have my rituals. A smoke with my coffee, that unbeatable hit after a meal, that friend to rely on in times of crisis, cigarettes have a place in my life that is usually associated with pleasure.
I like cigarettes. I like smoking
What I don’t like is how they ruin my health. I hate the was I have to plan my life around when I can fit in my next one, I hate the smell, I detest the cost and I resent the judgment placed on smokers by others.
I’m still quitting – I’m just finding it hard.
I have some quit smoking CD’s on order and I will let you know how they go, but if you have quit successfully Id love to know what worked for you.
The best way to give up smoking? What do YOU think?
