WTF????

Thursday, October 8th, 2009

Life, health and a general lack of time have kept me off the computer the last few days – I was so excited when I checked my mail – 122 new comments on my blog – wow!!!!

Excitement turned to disappointment when I logged in – 122 SPAM comments :(

What makes no sense to me though is why they bothered

- my site has no page rank and very little traffic as yet and none of the url’s they used in their spam comments seemed to be valid sites (no I did not click them – I looked them up) All were submitted within minutes of each other but from different IP’s so it must have been some kind of bot I think.

I would hate to have to make comments members only as I know I rarely register for blogs just to leave a comment but I am unsure of how to stop these pests – and suggestions?

What do YOU do to stop comment spam?

Well Im back off to bed to nurse a nasty cold and hope my inbox is only full of real comments in the morning :)

Will Australia say no to genital mutilation?

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

In some places in the world women are still legally butchered via the act of circumcising the clitoris (genital mutilation)

According to yahoo news Immigration Minister Chris Evans said he was “willing to consider directly intervening ” in the case of Grace Gichuhi, 22, and Teresia Ndikaru Muturi, 21 two Kenyan women who fear they will be circumcised if forced to return home.

They have been in Australia since July last year after attending the Catholic World Youth Day and have exhausted their avenues under Australian law to apply for asylum here as our current laws do not offer them protection.

I can not believe that the word “consider” was even used!

Gichuhi said her mother had been killed by members of the Mungiki sect for refusing to have her clitoris cut off, and she also feared death in the crude operation.

“They use a knife. Just a knife, no medicine,” she told Fairfax newspapers.

“They circumcise you and maybe you die.”

Muturi said she was sold for 10 cows to marry a 70-year-old man and would also be circumcised against her will if forced to return.

Yet the Australian government is still “considering” what to do about it?

In my opinion it is easy – these girls are here, these girls need protection and Australia needs to give it to them. What do YOU think?

In an ideal world!

teach4

According to my youngest sons (aged 6) school principal we would have teachers who speak correct English teaching our classes  “in an ideal world”
- but we don’t!

I removed my son from his school today because his own teacher (a truly wonderful dedicated teacher) has been away sick – and the replacement was not in my opinion suitable.

Not only does this teacher have personal hygiene issues (to put it bluntly she smells of wee and BO) not only did she scare my son by repeatedly shouting at the class (5 and 6 year old children) she can not even correctly pronounce the word “ask” (it is NOT “axed”) and again shouted at my son and told him to “sit down and stop interrupting” when he questioned her on it.

Now don’t get me wrong – I am 100% supportive of teachers. Unlike my husband (he feels they are under worked and over paid) I think they are over worked and under paid (mostly) and completely unappreciated.

It is GOOD teachers I support though – and not everyone is suited to teaching.

Is it too much to ask that our primary school teachers (you know – the ones who are hired to teach our kids the basics) can speak, read and spell at a primary school level?

I think our kids deserve it – what do you think?

Just an update on this one. (March 2010)

Our school has (thankfully) not hired that relief teacher again (several parents started taking their kids back home again when she was there so they got the message – their issue was her shouting though not her speech )
I feel someone with such poor skills should never have been hired in the first place!

Unfortunately there is still an issue with the standard of teaching in Australian schools (I shall write again on that topic another day) It frustrates me – our kids deserve a good education, good teachers need better conditions and wages – and bad teachers should not be in the class room.

It has been pointed out by a couple of bitchy commenters that my English skills are not perfec

(if it offends you so much there is a back button at the top of your screen – move on) .

I am aware of this – but I am not hired to educate children!

RIP Christian Rossiter ‘right to die’ man dead

Monday, September 21st, 2009

According to yahoo news Christian Rossiter, the Australian quadriplegic who recently won a landmark court case allowing him to refuse food and water from his nursing home died Monday. his brother Tim said he succumbed to a chest infection.

“I thank all those who have made Christian’s life, in his final years, as comfortable and as dignified as possible,” Tim said in a statement.

“Death I suspect comes as quite a relief for Christian,” Rossiter’s lawyer, John Hammond, told Seven Network television. “I think Christian will be remembered as someone who was very brave and took up a fight which will give a lot of people comfort.” Hammond said the ruling was not about euthanasia, but about giving people the right to refuse treatment if they are dying.

He was finally granted the right to refuse food and hydration after having to take the matter to court. I was so glad for him when he won, but so sad that we still live in a society where people are not allowed the right to a painless death at the time of their choosing rather than being left to suffer.

I do not know if  Christian would have chosen euthanasia had he the right to do so, but I feel ashamed that he did not get to make that decision for himself.

I can only imagion that euthanasia would have been a “nicer way to go” than starving and dying of thirst.

A while ago I had the heartbreaking experience of holding my best friend in my arms while the vet gave him a leathal injection to end his suffering – my dog was dying of cancer and whilst I could have had a few more weeks with my old friend I chose a peacful pain free death for him, rather than watch the cancer destroy him day by day while he suffered in pain.

Why do I not have the right to assist my human loved ones or to support their choice in this same way?

I hope one day euthanasia will be legal – what do YOU think?

A pedophile living on YOUR street?

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

What would YOU do if you had children, nieces and nephews, grand kids, friends with kids that visit etc and you found out you had a convicted pedophile living on YOUR street?

Would you accept his right as a paroled prisoner who had served his term  and been released to live among you – or would you, knowing the statistics of sex offenders that reoffend ( and this is a hard number to pin down – I have read estimates of anything from 10% to 95%) be filled with fear for those you care for and feel anger that the government will do nothing to stop it?

I know I would fall into the second category.

Thankfully Convicted pedophile Dennis Ferguson hasn’t moved into MY street, but he has moved into one in  the suburban area of Ryde in Sydney’s north-west.

The NSW housing minister, David Borger, has asked  Justice Action, a prisoner support group to convince him to move from the area after admitting he did not have the power to insist that Ferguson be relocated.

But the fact remains – where to put him anyway? He has previously been run out of communities in Queensland. Who would want him on THEIR street? Not me!

I don’t care if he is likely or not likely to re offend – the fact is he could, that there IS a chance – be it tomorrow or in five years time he just might offend again as he has repeatedly in the past.  So why the hell is he considered  fit to be released into the general population?

We are talking about a man who served a 14-year jail term  for attacking , kidnapping and sexually molesting three young children for three days. A man who failed to complete a rehabilitation program or even admit his guilt and then went back inside for breaking parole terms and taking a job that exposed him to children!
According to www.mako.org.au He was also charged and taken to court  for allegedly sexually assaulting a five-year-old girl at her home in Dalby, west of Brisbane, in November 2005.  Judge Botting granted a permanent stay on the proceedings based on evidence put before him by Ferguson’s defense team that pre-trial publicity about his past convictions would make it difficult to find an objective jury.

Where can a monster that was convicted of 19 charges including kidnapping, sodomy, gross indecency, indecent dealing and carnal knowledge go, I sure as hell don’t want him around my kids!

We protect the insane from hurting themselves or others. We lock mentally ill people up that are a danger to the community – so why not sexual predators? Why does he have a right to live among us?

He thinks there is nothing wrong with having sex with children!!!! WTF?

It is not up to the community to punish this man – it is up to the government to protect the community – and they should be doing it NOW not after another innocent gets hurt.

What do YOU think?

Kyle Sandilands suspended again over Magda Szubanski comments

Wednesday, September 9th, 2009

Vile kyle is at it again. This time the radio shock jock is in trouble for comments made about comedienne Magda Szubanski where he suggested the larger than life funny lady could become skinny if she was in a concentration camp. Magda Szubanski who recently lost over a quarter of her body size is of Polish origin. Poland is where many Nazi concentration camps, including Auschwitz, were located was offended by his comments.
kyle-sandilands The general manger of Sydney radio station 2Day FM, Adam Lang spoke for the station and said:

‘2Day FM has suspended Kyle Sandilands following comments he made during The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday 8 September, 2009. The suspension will be in effect pending further discussions involving Kyle Sandilands and station management. 2Day FM believes the comments made by Kyle were unacceptable and sincerely apologises and regrets any offence they caused.’

I think its about time this mean little man was gone for good.
If his last stunt – where he used a 14 year old rape victim for entertainment wasn’t bad enough this time he has to go!

This man is not smart or funny – he appeals to the lowest witted audience who find his cruel comments amusing. He gets his cheap laughs from poking fun at and humiliating others and I fail to see his appeal. Well actually thats not quite true, I can see how his inane ramblings may appeal to perhaps 14 year old boys – but how anyone else finds him funny eludes me. He isn’t even original!

I think kyle Sandiland is a jerk – what do YOU think?

I hate Religion – want to know why?

nun

Religion – it’s a controversial subject, we all have our own beliefs.

Personally organized religion does nothing for me.
I do not believe in the bible, I do not believe in an almighty creator who goes by the name of “god” who resides in heaven and watches over us as his creations.  I am spiritual and I do have a belief that we are here to grow and learn, I believe in an after life and I also believe that people are mostly good and live life according to their own morals that hopefully include treating others how we would like to be treated as that is how I try and live my life.

I am not perfect, I do judge, I do get selfish and I can be a little hedonistic – I have vices and faults, have made errors of judgment although I rarely have regrets as I believe mistakes are a lesson. Basically I consider myself to be a nice person but I am very aware that I am not perfect (Im not even sure Id want to be). I have a big issue with feelings though, I love and hate strongly!

This post is about what I HATE about religion.

What I hate more than anything is when people get all high and mighty about their beliefs and try and inflict them on others.
I also hate those who turn up to their place of worship once week yet do harm by word and action to others for the other 6 days.

I hate extremists and I hate those who think they have the right to judge others who do not share their beliefs. I hate how many wars, deaths and injustices are inflicted in the name of religion. I hate that the world has become divided by spiritual belief.
I have friends who do not believe in any god, I have friends who are Catholic, Muslim, Jewish and Buddhist. Whilst I love these people I do not agree with their beliefs completely but just as I have my right to my beliefs I feel they have their right to their own. It works for us – why?
RESPECT. I respect their right to their views and they do the same for me.

Regardless of what name you wish to appoint Him/Her – if a god does exist I can not believe that such an entity would have an issue as to what path someone follows to find “God” Surely such a being would only care as to what good is in someones heart? Surely they would care little of  an ego boost as to what name was called out in prayer.

If there is a “God” in my mind they would only care about the lessons we learn, the growth we make, the good we do and they sure as hell wouldn’t want to see people dying in their name.

The sooner we realize that we are no different from each other just because we know our “god” by another name the sooner this little planet has a chance to live in peace.

Id like to see a time were we no longer need the “church/temple/mosque” a time when religions have no name, a time where we have places of worship that are open to anyone who wishes to connect to a higher source regardless of the name they call their “god”

As strange as it sounds I would live to see the day where spiritual values are lived not just spoken about but where religions in the form they exist today are no longer around. I would like a spiritual world – not a religious one!

I hate Religion – What do YOU think?

A Post for an IGNORANT reader of my blog

cross

Dear “the lord speaks”

You are IGNORANT and quite frankly fools like you annoy the hell out of me. YOU do not speak for “god”and your opinions are narrow minded.

Re your comment on the beautiful “plus sized” model Lizzie Miller:
“fat or thin there is no reason for women to pose naked this is porn.”
Fool – look up the definition of pornography – this is not porn.
This is a lovely young woman showing the female form with class and sensuality.

Re your comment on the Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdi post
“this is not a place for women, men should be leaders.”
Men like YOU? Thank goodness that the rest of the world has matured beyond such idiotic thoughts – women are just as fit to lead as men.

Re the contraception post and your comment
“you should take down those links. it is a sin for teenagers to have sex it is only for married people.”
It is perfectly ok for any one of legal age in their community to have sex with another legal person – don’t like that fact – fine, but I intend to keep the links up for anyone looking for advice on how to have sex safely.
If this offends you don’t come back.

And as for your idiotic comment that
“only men and women should get wed God said so”
As I replied on the post itself -

your god may well say “no” but then I disagree with a lot of things the bible does approve of like slavery, physical punishment of children etc
But this is not a religious or moral debate – in my mind it is about equality and human rights.

I really don’t like the way YOU think

Big boobs & Little boobs – all is not equal.

big boobs cost a fortune

big boobs cost a fortune!

Rant alert! I am a woman of wild tempers today!
It should have been a fun day – shopping with the girls – three of us.

Friend one is petite, 5′2″ with pert little A cups. Friend two is a large curvy lady who a size 20 has firm full c cups and me – avarage build with gigantic “bosoms”  a DD cup.

I have always had them – well from about 13 onwards – I love them, until it came to bra shopping!

Miss A cup, picked up a cute little blue number – well made, good fabric, terrific style – all for $19 :)

Miss full figured C cup got hers on sale, lacy red $24.95 reduced to $14.00 – what a deal :)

When it came to the DD’s the story changed.
Sure there was a great selection of sexy stylish supportive bras (couldn’t have written that 15 years ago) I would have been proud to strip off my shirt and reveal any of them … until I looked at the prices !!!

$69.95 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Miss A cup could have purchased three of hers for that price!

Now I know my bra took a little extra fabric but no way in hell was it $50.00 worth of fabric. I know my size isn’t uncommon – I am a normal build other than huge boobs and I am not alone in having “biggies” so its not like there isn’t a demand for them.

It’s a scam – it’s a con – it’s blatantly unjust!

I think there should be equality in lingerie prices for all bra sizes – what do YOU think?

I hate Facebook

comp

There I said it – I hate the damn thing.
You see I work a lot on my computer, I also shop on it but that’s a post for another day. Basically when I am sitting in front of this screen it’s for a work / education purpose and only sometimes for entertainment.

I was talked into opening an account a FB though – months of nagging from friends and family members and I caved. After all what was the harm and it might be fun.

Login #1 I set up my page. Uploaded a photo and added a couple of friends before logging out for bed.

I login for the second time a few days later – oooh, how exciting, friend requests! I’m loved, I’m popular – 19 people want to be my face book friend  – the word has spread, my friends and family have found me :)

I login a week later – 100 friend requests. WTF?

I know 12 of them! Friends of friends, friends of family, two ex lovers and well to be honest I haven’t a clue who the rest were. On top of that half my “friends” had subjected me to invitations for groups – most multiple groups -there were 143 of them to be exact! And messages, some sent daily!

I never did log in for that fourth visit.

Am I alone in the fact that I make time to contact in “real life” with the people I care about? Am I alone in the fact that if I haven’t been in touch with someone since high school it is because I have no interest in doing so? Am I alone in not having an urge to share details of my life with people I have no interest in that seem to think they know me because their brothers girlfriend is second cousin to my friends sisters friend?

PS I don’t “tweet” either

I hated the facebook experience – Do YOU?
