Elton John Adopts baby?

Well not yet he hasn’t – but he will if he gets his way.

Singer Elton John claims he wishes to legally adopt a 14-month-old boy from an orphanage in Ukraine.

Elton John visited the country with his Aids foundation where he performed ‘Circle of Life’ for the kids at the orphanage.

Later, at a press conference, he announced that he would like to adopt one of the children, a cute toddler who resides at the orphanage.

Playboy Huge Hefner to divorce

Huge Hefner with assets of more than $43 million, excluding Playboy stock and property, aged 83, has filed court documents seeking to divorce former Playmate Kimberley Conrad, 47, (with whom he has two sons) last week citing irreconcilable differences.

Celebrity website TMZ.com obtained the documents that state the pair were married in July 1989 and have been separated since January 1998.

Hefner lives with several “girlfriends” including 19-year-old twins and stars in the TV reality show The Girls Next Door.

Huge Hefner – the ultimate “Dirty Old Man” may appeal to some women – but I could not see me living that lifestyle and sharing my lover (cringes at the thought of going to bed with him) with dozens of other girls.

She stole his heart

Love must have sent him stupid -  Stephfon Bennett, 20, who has since been charged with aggravated robbery returned to the scene of the crime to ask out the victim Diana Martinez .

She was robbed when three men pointed a gun at her head and stole her purse and a friend’s wallet while they were parked in front of her apartment in Ohio. Luckily for Dianna and her friend a neighbour threatened them and the fled.

They didn’t all stay gone though, Dianna recognized Bennett less than an hour later leaning against a banister overlooking the parking lot. He asked if she had a boyfriend and then asked her out. She kept him talking while  a relative called 911.

The other two robbers are still at large but Bennett  is held at the Franklin County jail on $100,000 bail.

Baby born 9:09am on 9/9/09, weighing 9 pounds, 9 ounces.

How freaky is this? I read on www.lacrossetribune.com about a freaky coincidence today surrounding the birth of a baby.

The third child of Polly and Chuck Berendes arrived at 9:09 a.m. on 9/9/09, weighing 9 pounds, 9 ounces!

Welcome to the world Henry Michael Berendes!

In my family numbers seem to play a part too.  The majority of my relatives have their birthdays in the last week of the month and most are born within the first four months of the year.  Just about any “good” thing that occurs in our lives also happen on dates from the last week of the month and the really good ones (births, marriages, job promotion, wins etc) happen durning the first four months of the year too. As do all our families house moves!

Why women have sex – the secret REAL reasons

Texas University professors and Why Women Have Sex authors Cindy Meston and David Buss have shed light on the real reasons women have sex!

Apparently 84 per cent of women admit to having sex to get “a quiet life” or as a leverage for household chores!
How romantic – one woman even confessed to having sex so that her husband would put out the rubbish!

Others admitted to giving out “sympathy sex” and sleeping with a guy just because she felt sorry for him, still more confessed to sex to relieve boredom, to keep the peace or as a cure for a headache.

Money and gifts played a part with nearly 1/10 of women admitting to nearly  “having sex for presents”. Others  women said: “He bought me a nice dinner”, “he spent a lot of money on me early on”, “he showed me he had an extravagant lifestyle” as their reasons for sleeping with them.

Maybe the old reasoning that women have sex for love is out the window too with 6/10 university students said they slept with a male friend who was not their boyfriend for fun.

I have always had what my peers consider a strange attitude about sex and an above “normal” sex drive. Whilst I agree sex in a close relationship is very special I have always considered sex to be a fun pastime too and recreational event – it looks like other women are starting to view it the same way!

Kyle Sandilands suspended again over Magda Szubanski comments

Vile kyle is at it again. This time the radio shock jock is in trouble for comments made about comedienne Magda Szubanski where he suggested the larger than life funny lady could become skinny if she was in a concentration camp. Magda Szubanski who recently lost over a quarter of her body size is of Polish origin. Poland is where many Nazi concentration camps, including Auschwitz, were located was offended by his comments.
kyle-sandilands The general manger of Sydney radio station 2Day FM, Adam Lang spoke for the station and said:

‘2Day FM has suspended Kyle Sandilands following comments he made during The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Tuesday 8 September, 2009. The suspension will be in effect pending further discussions involving Kyle Sandilands and station management. 2Day FM believes the comments made by Kyle were unacceptable and sincerely apologises and regrets any offence they caused.’

I think its about time this mean little man was gone for good.
If his last stunt – where he used a 14 year old rape victim for entertainment wasn’t bad enough this time he has to go!

This man is not smart or funny – he appeals to the lowest witted audience who find his cruel comments amusing. He gets his cheap laughs from poking fun at and humiliating others and I fail to see his appeal. Well actually thats not quite true, I can see how his inane ramblings may appeal to perhaps 14 year old boys – but how anyone else finds him funny eludes me. He isn’t even original!

lost world found & undiscovered species!

SCIENTISTS have found a lost world of new species on an island in Papua New Guinea, including a giant rat, a frog with fangs and a fish that grunts.

A BBC Natural History Unit found the rat trapped in an extinct volcano - Mt Bosavi – along with up to 40 undiscovered species.
Scientist also found  approximately 16 new species of frog , 20 unknown varieties of insects and spiders and what they describe as an “extremely hairy” caterpillar, and what may turn out to be a new species of bat in the area that scientists consider as being virtually unchanged since the volcano erupted 200,000 years ago!

Wow – how freaky is that!

I truly hope that these areas and the species discovered in them are protected – who knows what we can discover from them.

chicken skin as contraceptives!

An OMG moment if ever there was one…

I just read about a  recent UK study by market research company Opinion Health found that alarmingly inaccurate myths about contraception may be very common.

1,000 women aged 18 to 50 were surveyed in the  Bayer Schering Pharma sponsored study and 1/5th of women surveyed said they had heard of kitchen items such as bread, chicken skin and cling film being used as alternatives to the proper barrier methods. Shockingly others indicated that they had heard that food such as crisps, coke and even kababs could substitute for oral contraceptives.

What is truly terrifying though is that some people believed the pill could protect them against HIV!

I’m going to do some looking later and find some links to some good quality sex ed sites and post them here in case anyone finds this post while looking for proper information. Until then – always use a condom ;)

Can you guess who has the highest unintended pregnancy rate in Europe?

And lets not get smug – its not just the British – according to a report on http://www.newsmax.com the annual rate of AIDS diagnoses for boys aged 15 to 19 years has nearly doubled in the past 10 years, and rates of syphilis are also up.Obviously US teens need better sex ed too!

Teaching just abstinence is totally INSANE in my mind.
Certainly strongly recommend it to your teens if that’s your belief – but for goodness sake remember you are dealing with TEENAGERS and at least give them the information required to educate themselves on how to protect themselves should they need to. An unwanted pregnancy is probably one of the milder side effects of unprotected sex – after all it only changes your life forever – it doesn’t usually kill you!

Woman Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdi approved as health minister for Iran

Iran backs its first female minister!

“Iranian MPs have approved the first woman minister in the 30-year history of the Islamic republic.” according to a report I read at http://news.bbc.co.uk

The site describes “MARZIEH VAHID DASTJERDI” as being aged 50 and said that she qualified as a gynecologist at Tehran university and has been a leading activist in women’s health. They also state that her nomination was criticised as she has no experience of government or running a hospital. She has served as an MP for an Islamic physicians’ party, spearheading a campaign to introduce segregated hospitals.

I say Congratulations Iran and Marzieh Vahid Dastjerdi …

Mr Percival – Storm Boy’s favorite pelican dies

Mr Percival -  star of the 1976 South Australian film Storm Boy has died at Adelaide Zoo from old age at 33 last night.

Based on Colin Thiele’s novel about a young boy who raised three pelicans and is made to set them free by his dad.

I remember seeing the movie and being touched by it when I was a child and recommend anyone that hasn’t seen it tracks it down.

Mr Percival is survived by his seven offspring that he sired with his long term partner Alto

RIP Mr Percival!
