Life, health and a general lack of time have kept me off the computer the last few days – I was so excited when I checked my mail – 122 new comments on my blog – wow!!!!
Excitement turned to disappointment when I logged in – 122 SPAM comments
What makes no sense to me though is why they bothered
- my site has no page rank and very little traffic as yet and none of the url’s they used in their spam comments seemed to be valid sites (no I did not click them – I looked them up) All were submitted within minutes of each other but from different IP’s so it must have been some kind of bot I think.
I would hate to have to make comments members only as I know I rarely register for blogs just to leave a comment but I am unsure of how to stop these pests – and suggestions?
What do YOU do to stop comment spam?
Well Im back off to bed to nurse a nasty cold and hope my inbox is only full of real comments in the morning

Hi Thinkies,
Nice writing, and nice graphics! Keep it up!
Regarding spam, I had the same issue when I started out and it would sure make me mad too! Then I did some looking and found Akismet (http://akismet.com/). I see that you are using WordPress. Akismet has a plugin that you can install easily.
It works like magic, and I never had to sort out a spam comment myself ever since I started using it. Hope this takes spam off of your list of things that make you mad
Cheers!
Mark
Hello
I sympathise with the spam, especially if you thought it was comments. I can imagine the disappointment!
I like the way you write and am reading some of your posts now…enjoying it so far!
