Nothing Profound - I too like to think I am tolerant of other cultures customs, but not when it involves abuse and mutilation. If these girls wanted to go through with it whilst I do not condone it as an adult I feel they have that right - but as they do not want it it is clearly a violation of their human rights and as such they need protection. But because it's about "female parts" they don't want to know about it. "It's a cultural practice" they say, but in Western culture in the past, women weren't allowed to own property and we've realised how dumb that is.
